Should timing change with vacuum hooked to the dist??

Whilst setting timing on my '88, I unplugged the vacuum line from the distributor, and capped it. I set idle with a timing light, to base timing of 16* BTDC. Upon reinstalling the vacuum line, I see no change in the timing, where I was kind of expecting to see something.
Should it change? If so, what should it change to, at idle, with the vacuum hooked up? I have not disassembled the distributor to see if things move inside yet.
