The 3m product is also a double sided mounting tape.
Sorry, but I would never use a sharp object to remove the side molding. A length of heavy fishing line will do the trick. Especially if you pre-heat the mounting tape with a hair dryer of heat gun first. A little WD-40 and a plastic putty knife with ake off the residue from the car without harming the paint. Don't ever use a rotary tool or other object that will gouge the back of the mounding when you are cleaning the old mounting tape off of it. The molding will be wavy when you reapply it. A sharp paint scraper does the job of cleaning the molding nicely, again, especially if you pre-heat it.
