There are definitely some good deals on ebay though. For the rare, nice "classic" Saab (i.e. C900 and some would might say 9000) there is a lot of competition. It seems like the times I've bought the car I wanted, the owner said they were inundated with emails, and I just happened to be the one who was more willing to take a chance or took a chance first. This usually meant going with "sight-unseen" and traveling some distance to look the car over myself, often already with a commitment to buy the car.
On ebay, you can usually tell from the posting what type of person is selling the car. The main problem with C900s and 9000s (and probably newer Saabs at this point) is that the resale value is relatively low, so irresponsible people are able to buy them second or third hand. You want to avoid buying from someone who seems to skimp on maintenance or is oblivious to the car's mechanical side. If it's an old car, and they seem like non-technical people who also don't have a lot of money, it's a good bet the car has been neglected.
