Use 5W30.
But no synthetic's, unless the car has been using synthetic's all along. Synthetic's with its higher "cleaning" characteristics, will wash off all those sluge built-up's. Some of which could have served the dual function of stopping some oil leaks. Changing to synthetic could very well create a lot of oil leaks the car did not have before.
