Non-airbag steering wheel on a '90 SPG

I would love to have an older-style MOMO steering wheel for my '90 SPG. Since the airbag is no-good anyway, I was thinking about switching things out. What needs to be done to fit an older non-airbag steering wheel onto an airbag-equipped car? Is it a pretty huge fix? I've heard the steering column needs to be switched for a non-airbag column. Is that the upper and lower column? Anyone done this switch before?
Thanks!!
