With the low cost of a China brake flaring tool kit, I suggest you get that and do it right.
There should be no heating applied at all on the rigid plastic line (well, maybe a cup of hot water at the most) since it looses its memory and will not hug the check valve good enough.
With the brake flare counter hold tool you will get a good grip and then it is a matter of pressing the valve in with use of some silicone grease for easy slide.
DO NOT extend the plastic tube out of the tool all the way but start with just a stub to get the valve inserted a little bit. If you allow too much line to stick out, it will kink from the pressure and you will never get a second chance but have to cut the line again and start over.
You can probably search the topic on multiple boards since the technique is used on many models.
