If I remember correctly, the SPG turbo has mechanical advance mechanism and a Vacuum retard within the the distrubutor all the way to the end. All non turbo's after 1989 used the crank sensor behind the pulley and all advance / retard was controled by the ignition control module. I am not certain that you can do what you want and get the engine to run properly.
