I find the shifters to be bent by people who don't know how to operate the gear selector and key. Valets can be really rough on this setup. Calculate how many times you shift, and then it might make more sense too..... After I had an accident, a guy ( a supposed Saab expert ) came to the rescue to help get the car out of gear. He promptly wiped out the gear selector rod....broke it off at the ball.
