in my experience that is a worn out tripod bearing on the inner side of the driveshaft.
Probably the pass. side cuz the exhaust is closer to it and it breaks down the grease faster w/ the extra heat.
Sounds like the inner driver(part of the trans) has already started to wear away. Check this by separating the axle from the trans and, with a rubber glove, feel the inside of the inner driver. There are 3 surfaces inside where the tripod bearing rides while going forward. If the driver is damaged, there will be a cup-like wear spots in the driver. This can be anywhere from a little indentation to a massive cup in each of the 3 surfaces inside.
Unfortunately, there will always be vibration under hard acceleration or hwy speed as long as that inner driver is there.
You can swap the driver w/ the drivers side one, effectively reversing the rotation and the surface the tripod bearing rides on. A new inner driver in real expensive! If you get a donor one, make sure it's not worn like i explained.
i would take car of it right away...
You def. don't want it "blow up". It will really damage the inner driver part of the transmission.
Now, I check all my SAABs for this when i first get them. Usually end up putting new grease to avoid a total blow out. I have had 2 blow up over the years, now i'm wise to it...
good luck!
