Ray,
There're two DI-based systems: pre-Trionic and the Trionic itself. The latter one is a complete new engine management system while the 1st one runs ignition and boost only (or ignition only for the... MY87 irc). Given the fact the you boys all have bosch lh jetronic it makes more sense to go the way that Larry W has gone, but aside of flexibility and programmability (I'm not done with my pre-Trionic DI decoding project yet, ETA is still about two years to go) Trionic runs on MAP rather then MAF sensor. MAP never fails and I'm really surprised to see that there haven't happened any 'ahh... my maf sensor is shot!' post here on this BB yet this month.
Although you can go reading ecuproject web site, but I'll be glad to answer here all the questions you have on this should you ask them :)
Zig
P.S.
Probably this also has been discussed in performance board here on TSN, but I don't go there so I dunno whether there're any details there or lots or none.
