You MUST use NGK plugs, like Simon said (ha!)
I used to live in Southern California, and during the summers, I used Castrol 20w50. These engines get hot as heck, so the extra density and viscosity made me feel better.
In all other temps, I run Castrol 10w40. In NYC winters, I run Castrol 5w30.
If you alternated between 20w50 in the hottest periods, and 10w40 the others, you'll be fine. I personally like Castrol because they are proven, and were around and recommended when these cars were actually built.
