Jens,
Noises related to engine RPMs are either coming from the engine, an ancillary device like the alternator or power steering pump or the parts of the transaxle that spin when it's in neutral with the engine running and the clutch engaged, i.e; upper chainwheel bearing, chains, lower chainwheel bearings, front countershaft needle bearing, rear countershaft needle bearing and all four mainshaft gears (not fifth). Final drive noises, including pinion bearings, are related to the RPMs of those items which is MPH (road speed, not engine speed) related. A buzzing/grinding noise makes me think of the power steering pump and you should be able to lift the hood and have a friend (watching the tach.) hold the engine at the necessary speed while you listen around the engine compartment for the noise. If the car must be rolling to make the noise then it's probably not really engine speed (RPM) related and we'll have to re-think.
