Ignore any advice that says to use non-synthetic lubes. Your Quaife will make huge amounts of heat when it's operating, that is, when you have one wheel spinning and it's transferring power to the other. Therefore, you want nothing but synthetic. I use Redline Shockproof, lightweight (blue-green) grade, but cold shifting is not great. You can mix and match Redline lubes, so you might try running some amount of MT-90 and the Shockproof, or all MT-90. In my experience, Redline MTL is not suited to an aggressively driven c900 gearbox, as it thins too much.
The local, well-respected rebuilder I go to says to run a rebuilt for 500 miles, change oil, then go. He is also the one who recommended I use Shockproof in my Quaife-equipped trans.
