I mean I literally just finished, still sweating a little since it was humid outside. I'd be leery of constructing both ends and having them hold up after months of continuous use and tension.

any way, ......here's how I'd construct one If I needed to.

1) I would not worry about replacing the ends, at all.

2) remove the chain to the cruise control vacuum servo first. This is done all by feel, and it is helpful to have some tension here when unhooking it. You use the chain to guide your fingers to the clip the ball chain goes into, and bring the pedal towards you by depressing the accelerator.

2) Cut off the stop piece of the cable at the throttle body, solder a very thin wire to the end that will be helpful in pulling the new cable back into position. Then, pull the entire cable back into the passenger compartment through the upper speaker hole. With the terminal end cut off you can withdraw the entire cable leaving the entire housing in the car, leaving only the guide wire you attached previously.

3) Get a bicycle brake or shifter cable with an end as close to the shape of the original as possible, and much longer than it needs to be for this particular application. Like this:

4) Crimp the cruise control connector (it's a little piece of sheet metal)onto the leaded end (probably will need some modification with a file here.

5) using the guide wire from step 2, pull the new cable into place.

6) Drill a whole into the attachment point on the cam (manual) or lever (automatic)that is large enough from the old fashion cable fasteners of old school brakes (a bolt with a whole large enough for the cable to pass through just below the bolt's head). Like this:

7) thread the cable through the whole, tighten a nut to the back side of the of the bolt, and clamp that sucker down.

This way, you have a factory head at one end of the cable, and a vise-like clamp at the other end. Lessens the odds of failure.
