I contemplated this on my 1988; putting in power seats from a 1991. Not only is the seat mounting TOTALLY different between the two, but the shape of the carpet, inner rocker panels, etc are different as well, so even if you got the seats to go....the carpet would fit TOTALLY wrong too.
Its difficult to put into words, but to get the 9000-style seats (1991+) to go in, you basically need to cut the mounting points and front seat mounting "crossmember" out of the donor car, and weld them into your car. It is NOT a drop-in upgrade.
If you are massively gung-ho and want power seats, its not impossible by any means. Its just more work than most are willing to do.
ALSO....if you do this, you will need the center console from the later car. The shape is different due to the seats in the 1991 having the female end of the seatbelts bolted to the seat frame. They bolt to the floor of the car in the earlier style, and come up THROUGH holes in the center console.
