At that point, you should be able to take your adapter ("sandwich") & lines to the bench where you can work on them with relative ease. Three bolts. Scrape off the old gasket from the adapter & block, then just use a nice bead of 518 (aka "Anaerobic sealant" or "Anaerobic gasket maker") when re-installing it.
Also, if you don't have it, you'll want a "flare nut" wrench. Like a box wrench, but with a side cut out so you can slip it over the line. With that, you might even be able to get at the fittings with the adapter still on the motor...
