Re: Brake pads that don't quite fit - Part Number? Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Brake pads that don't quite fit - Part Number?, PaulS ![]() |
Interesting note here that I learned from a rockauto employee... when they have a part listed as closeout, it sometimes comes from a regional warehouse or 3rd party supplier. They don't have access to the same information you or I or rockauto does, and sometimes they get orders they cannot directly fill so they ship a "close enough" part. I found this out when I ordered some Wagner brake disks for my Focus, and got some wacky pseudo-brand instead. I emailed customer service, they gave me this explanation and got me the right part quickly.
Related, eight months ago I ordered a fuel filter for my A4 from them, but didn't end up installing it until a few months ago. Well, I would have installed it, but they'd shipped a filter for a FWD A4 and not an AWD one. Their catalog showed the same part for both cars, which is not accurate. Again, I emailed them and they fixed the issue despite the multi-month lag between the order and the install.
I'd email them... their customer service is positively superb, and one of the many reasons I keep doing business with them. Keep ordering from them - you may see one of my cars on a "built with rockauto parts magnet" someday. :)
