I started daily driving my '89 900S sedan this weekend after having it off the road for more than two years after the gearbox blew up. I haven't driven a C900 since selling my '85 notchback in December.
In the '89 I put in a good low-mileage used gearbox and did a number of easy to get to things, including the timing chain and guides, while the engine was out. I forgot how much I love this car. Everything works including the A/C (which is good in this weather) and I did the headliner about three years ago. While it was off the road I converted it to the pre-'87 bumpers and lights as this is the look I prefer.
Out of my three Saabs, which also include a 1972 96 and a 2001 9-5, this may be the one I would keep if I could never have another Saab again. It's a lot more comfortable than the 96 and a lot more DIY-friendly than the 9-5, it's really the best of both worlds. I think I'll be keeping this one for a while too. The naturally-aspirated B202 is also the perfect engine for scooting around town.
