Vern,
the main idea of such or similar mods is the following:
- check... no, doublecheck... twice doublecheck the polarity since hall-effect sensors go south if reverse voltage applied (or output is loaded with heavy load - low resistance one - or connected to voltage source)
- all the hall-effect sensors are basically the same. They only differ in the supply voltage and output voltage. According to Bentley manual all the hall-effect sensors used in C900s should be of the same design: 12V supply voltage. But Bentley only says the output should be greater then 3V that doesn't quite define sensor output voltage (5V or 12V), though there's nothing about different modification thru the model years.
Bottom line: if I were you I'd try such modification. But I'd keep in mind that there're some (well, quite a few, but more then 0% nevertheless) chances that ignition amplifier could require 12V input signal from the sensor and that 'new' one is giving 5V only - no spark. A slightly worse case scenario would be that sensor is giving 12V and the input circuit of the ignition amplifier is designed to handle 5V logic - no spark and shot sensor and/or amplifier. But I'd rate 90% probability for the modification to be success.
