Hey all!
Need serious help here!!!!.....
Had a direct swap done a couple weeks ago from autobox to a very tight(50K)autobox on a '93 900S vert with 147k.
Done a serious mistake in trusting a shop that specialise in gearbox for 3 generation940years).even though they have done mercedes,porsche,BmW...they had never done any SAABS OG or NG but reassuremed me that THEY can doing it and do it correctly.....well it could have have gone worst........instead of taking 9 1/2/1ohrs to swap took them 18 1/2 hours! but charged me only 15 1/2hours(how generous!!)..They want me to bring it back to them for a fix...but hey if they could'nt do it in 18 hours sure dont think/feel that a couple extra hours will do it!! hein!!!!!!
The kickdown adjustement was completely off and also my"check-engine" light is on 98% of the time..while idle at a light or stop the moror is unstable and there's this smell in the cockpit of in between exhaust/some oil.......No dripping or whatsover......
Finally got the shifting adjusted in a hurry(elsewhere) but cant find the scanner to detect what it is with the moror being instable(seems that here in Montreal,ALL major shop only have for NG>>'94 up..talk of modernisation!!)..aside from this it runs fine...smooth shifting and revs are correct.and feel it stronger since new tranny......
From my point of view...could it be a sensor(oxigen???) or a vacum or that the exhaust was'nt correctly connected back to the manifold or that this manifold was crack while taking out/reinstalling the motor........I really dont know!!
Did find a good shop to look at it beginning of the week but NO scan could take maybe hours of labor to find.....dont know what to expect
Also I seriously wonder if I drive it till its fix could it damage further ??
We all know that these 900S 2.1L/autobox are'nt the greatest and somewhat fragile....but hey this is a very clean almost mint...and surely isnt or wont never be a big value.....but in my hearts or hearts it needs what it deserves and being that there aint to many classics left around(specially in Quebec bush).....I'd sooner give it a little bit of more maintenace/push that it needs and intent to keep it for the next while.........even though I just sealed a SIS for next spring.
Anyway ANY advice or directions to understand will be much apreciated.....as always from SAABERS on this BB
Lets ride...........!
Marc
