Follow up to the main AC vent not working:
For a long time I problem solved with this but gave up. There was a vacuum leak somewhere and the vacuum bottle would wheeze and the engine would not run very well with the extra air what was getting sucked into it. So I plugged it off.
Since I had the lower dash off I started messing around following the vacuum lines off the ''ocatapus'' behind the air distribution switch.
It turned out one of the vacuum motors had the hose disconnected for the right vent under the speaker. I hooked it back up but the main vent still did not work.
So, I looked at the Townsend site and realized there was another vacuum motor just about dead center on the fire wall. I could not reach it from underneath the dash. But I could reach it by pulling the left speaker cover and pulling the radio and radio cage (just barely). Sure enough the vacuum hose had slipped off the nipple. And what a nipple it is! Unlike the other motors this nipple is mounted pointed sideways. With my left arm through the speaker hole and my right arm in the radio cage hole, I got the vacuum hose on the motor nipple using the tips of my fingers. This was really difficult. But now the main AC vent works.
Someone must have been too hamfisted a few years ago when they installed a different radio. In the process they knocked off some crucial vacuum hoses.
