if it goes away after the car sits for a while (cools off), it could be the ABS unit is overheating. If it goes away within 30 seconds after the ABS + BRAKE lights come on, it could just be the accumulator here is the test thread:

Basically turn the car on, but leave the engine off, such that the ABS and Brake lights come on and then go out. Stomp on the brake pedal fast and hard, multiple times (stomp, stomp, stomp....). If the lights come on in less than 3 stomps, the bomb is bad, greater than 10 is good, between is iffy. If it's bad there is an less expensive GM part (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com, p/n 25528382, and the o-ring seal p/n 25528383).
