Sit on ground beside car, have a bright light and look up pedal shaft. I don't think your year is an adjustable switch, but I have put an adjustable wrench onto the sheet metal bracket and bent it some.
The switches sometimes start to break apart and that could be your problem.
It's hard on your battery, you may have discovered.
Do a search on here, it's a common problem that has been discussed a lot by folks on here.
I gobbed JB Weld around a broken one once, anchoring it to the bracket, and then when it had set I bent the bracket till it worked fine.
