There is a DIN cable that connects the radio with the CD player (which also will function as a CD changer controller.) If the CD changer is disconnected, it throws the radio into a "CODE" situation. There is a bypass cable that will permit the radio to function without the CD unit in place, however.
That being said, the odds of finding a good one is slim to none. These are approaching 7-10 years old and many have succumbed to dust, dirt and humidity. For the money it would take to get a working CD unit and compatible radio in there, you could have a killer head unit with all the CD/MP3 functionality you'd ever want.
