our winter beater is a 1989, so no abs. I have one with abs + have driven both in winter. non-abs is better *if* you can threshold brake, because you have the option to lock up if you want which you don't with ABS. That can be handy in winter, and in general in winter, I find the 1989 stops faster than the 1993 (eg in residential intersections made slick from people slamming on brakes + accelerating too hard)...
SRS? well, they are all pretty old nowadays so who knows how much they can be trusted... and besides, you aren't going to use that anyway ;-)... seriously though, the c900 is pretty well padded + even the old ones were designed with that in mind...
and in our case, there is no insurance difference either for having those safety features... both are still considered safe cars + have very low insurance rates...
the biggest safety feature in winter imho is good tires. if you're allowed studs, studded Hakkapellitas are a perfect match for these cars! with that setup, a c900 will drive circles around just about anything else in snow!
