Check valve at top of fuel pump? Posted by SaabStalker [Email] (#1098) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabStalker) on Fri, 30 Dec 2011 15:26:02 In Reply to: Long Crank, Frank Sagan, Fri, 30 Dec 2011 12:09:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A likely cause of long crank. Then when you try to rev it up there is still a sl8ight void of fuel. One way to check if it's a fuel or spark issue is spray some start fluid into intake. Just remove one of the small vacumn lines spray in some start fluid; replace the line.If it starts then its likely the check valve at top of fuel pump in trunk area. If it doesn't fire then look for electrical issues next. Remember, even if it starts with the fluid the fuel won't be in the fuel rail w/o the extended cranking to bring the fuel back to the fuel rail. Other ways to check if it's other fuel components at the rail is a fuel pressure gage attached at front of rail. Let us know what you eliminate then we can assist with other ideas.
