i have just swapped the entire hub/axle/caliper assembly w/ great success from a different car.
disconnect at the upper and lower ball joints, and the inner axle boot, and of course the brake line(s).
It's really just to keep a beater goin, and if you're like me and you have some axles layin around that you wanna use up...go for it!
Technically, it's the drive shaft itself, not the CV or the inner tripod bearing that should be kept car specific. They are weighted differently and may even be different lengths from at to manual.
but if it's 85? or later and the transmission is the same, there's a good chance you can just throw an entire used hub at it to keep it rollin.
the ones i have done were all 84 or later manuals. Didn't seem to matter if it was turbo or not, and we used to laugh at how you can just whip the old hub off and throw a different one on!
maybe grease up the axles before installing and check the boots for tears.
