So, inspired by vvacko's post on leaks, and my recent spate of VC leaks, i thought i might post the question here.
The problem seems to start with a warped VC. The corner near the turbo "lifts up", so much so that a straight edge rocks when laid across the underside. However, it does bolt down flat. I have several VC's like this, so i am interested in finding a workable solution.
Just a couple of days ago, i went back and tried to stop my SPG from leaking there. Ultra Black RTV, lay down a thin coating on the head first, with a bead in the VC for the gasket. Wait a few minutes then lay down and finger tighten the bolts. And hour or so later torque then down. Seems pretty good, but still not quite perfect.
So, what's the deal? Just about every C900 turbo i have seen or owned has a black spot on the front upper exhaust manifold, from leaking VC! Is there a proper fix???
I would love to be able to install a VC with just the new gasket, and be done!
Anyone?
