position. if the top r/h hinge is the more badly worn one swap them top and bottom so the less badly worn r/h bottom hinge now takes the majority of the load as the top hinge.

it's not an unheard of problem, and the 3 doors are almost exclusively the ones that get it because the doors are heavier than the coupes. i don't know if the coupe hinges are the same as the 3 door ones, but that may be another option for replacements.

no, you will not find new ones unless someone happens to have a NOS stash in their garage or they get them at a dealership shut down with old dusty parts in the back.

a couple of hints from the shop manual. if you do not have a 2nd person, you can use a floor jack and substantial padding to protect the door bottom and use that for support.

also, you can scribe an outline around your currnet hinges so you have the position for the replacement ones. i think i'd be more inclined to use a pencil (depending on your car colour) so you don't add a possible rust point by scratchnig good paint.

one other possibility perhaps might be to drill out the pin and the passage to a slightly larger size and put a new pin in to make it tight again. i don't know if there's enough meat on the hinge pin surround to do that though.

try site or old site sponsors like elite foreign auto in sun valley ca as a parts supplier as well.

mark :-)
