The panels that go on the doors and between the doors and wheelhousings are all the same, for all years, and all mount the same. It's the bumper extensions that are the problem. The 87- bumper extensions are made to mate up with the 87- bumpers, and the -86 panels are made to go behind the -86 bumpers. There's really no way to make it look right without changing to the corresponding bumpers. There was NO change to the structure of the car, so you can bolt up any bumper you like, so long as, in the front, you also bolt up the later headlights, grille and turn signal housings. The rear doesn't need any other change.
The lower front spoiler on the 87- cars is created by a spoiler extension that screws to the bottom of the standard bumper cover. On 87- cars, the bumper extensions are different from non-SPGs (non-Aeros) by flaring more to match up with the lines of the panels installed on the other side of the wheelhousings.
The front spoiler on the -86 SPG/Aero cars is a replacement for the black plastic panel behind the bumper, and matches up with the side panels.
