Finished Clutch! now some clattering, ticking Posted by markatl [Email] (#1833) [Profile/Gallery] (more from markatl) on Sat, 9 Jun 2012 16:54:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have checked all connections but it never did this this loud and continuous at idle before-only sligthly at start up. I have read many past threads on these noises. I am thinking of three things it could be. It has to be just more than coincidence.
1) Connections? Like I said above, I checked everything.
2)During the clutch installation, I did move the flywheel counterclockwise- when standing in front of engine-many times when intstalling(had to install flywheel twice when I broke the pressure plate bolt). That was the right direction? I know that is not the engine but I was worried when doing it so many times. I did have the car in reverse as well when doing the clutch. I think it should have been in neutral? Does it matter?
3) And, When I changed my valve cover gasket a few weeks ago there was a bolt loose on the lifters, cams, whatever. I just sinched it down good. I did drive it once afterwards and things seemed fine-no noise. Is there something else going on there. How did that bolt come loose?
thanks for the continuous help. The clutch seems good(I only drove it to the end of driveway and turned around; with the ticking and all).
I am planning to do the master and new line next.
excuse the ramble.....and thanks for the help
