Zig,
Yeah I never trusted those marks on the dipsticks except the max full mark. As I said, Park versus neutral, there's nothing going on inside the unit that will make the reading inaccurate as long as it's warmed up and been cycled through the gears a few times. I read all those manuals "religiously" many years ago. I tend to forget all the fine print and just remember what matters. "Warm it up, cycle it, put it in park or neutral, check for full (max.)".
Yep, the English (American market) Saab manuals contain both imperial and metric figures in all cases. Fine by me, thanks to guitarmaking (and studying chemistry I guess) I'm well versed in metric. Just for fun I once told the lady at the deli counter in the grocery store that I wanted one pound of Swiss cheese but I'll accept 454 grams. She failed to see the humor, also when she asked me if it was sliced OK and I said, "That's about 0.050", better go to about 0.040" please". Yes the manuals do have occasional typos and strange wording but I think that the Swedes did a really good job.
