If you can't find a mag plug, you could have a regular plug and use a 1991-1994 differential cover. It has the magnet in the back along with a filter strainer. Did they foul up the case or the plug? I suspect that the case threads were boogered up. The case threads can be repaired a couple of ways, but none of them are easy fixes. Maybe you are the lucky one though.
You could keep the drain plug for servicing, and still have the magnetic pickup for the worn ferrous stuff if you used the late model diff cover.
How did your NA to turbo conversion work out?
