Thanks for the suggestions. I will pull the hazard switch and clean the contacts, then show her how to pull the switch out if it happens again, to test on the spot if necessary. The car is a hatchback, and the brake lights work fine - it is definitely the orange signal lights that are stuck on. The turn signal stalk is not floppy because I'm the guy who replaced it (she made me dinner) but it was a used part so that will be the next suspect if the hazard switch does not fix the problem. Thanks again.
