Yep, adjust the linkage as per the manual and clean and lube the ball part of the shift lever. Trouble going into gear is often due to air in the clutch hydraulic system. These clutch hydraulics are tricky to bleed completely. I always do them by pushing fluid from the slave up to the master and get excellent results every time. While you're down there take a good look at the rubber coupling in the shift linkage and determine whether it is split. That will make shifting difficult too and is a common problem.
