The factory under-carpet padding is the worst thing to keep in your car. That stuff never dries out once it gets wet. That's why most of us refer to them as floor rusters. Plenty of people don't use anything under the carpet, some people use Dynamat or a similar product. I use jute carpet padding. It doesn't retain water as bad as the OEM pads or other foam pads.
