Frank, a second set of hands complicate stuff.
This is what you do:
First position the pressure plate/ and clutch disc at an angle...just the tip into the area between flywheel and tranny, Make SURE the slave cylinder does not pop out from the rear, mount the release bearing on, postion it in the center of the pressure plate fingers, and squeeze them in as one unit. Once the the rear of the slave is caught on teh back of the tranny side- then you can relax a bit, and now push the pressure plate forward(towards you) to center the slave and release bearing, in position.
What makes the installation tricky are the three dowel pins on the flywheel. That is why you just slightly introduce the pressure plate in, while slipping in the slave cylinder/release bearing at an angle. If you try to put everything in as one unit with everything in position- the dowels tend to jamb the attempt. I take a small screwdriver and pry the pressure plate over the dowels- then all pops in- thereafter you have to lift the clutch disc up a bit, while fiddling/introducing with the clutch shaft.
