Looks like the shifter coupling slipped off the shaft by about 3/16". I put the 6 mm pin into the shifter housing with 3rd 3rd gear selected and also put an allen wrench into the shifter shaft as it came out of the transmission. After everything was in its place +/-, I loosened the shifter shaft clamp and shortened the shaft distance by about 3/16" and then tightened the clamp. It may have slipped out of adjustment because I am downshifting into 1st gear to compensate for a lazy ABS pump.
