So I have Hakka 7s (Studded) and they're on their second season too.
Coming off of 16 inchers with Michelin Pilot Exalto tires, I feel a significant difference in handling...kinda like this: I can toss the nose into a lane change, and the ass-end compresses and then springs itself into the other lane...wicked fun if you're ready for it.
I run with 36PSI.
Those sidewalls are SOOO soft...Me thinks you're just getting that effect. Being sucked into a trucks vortex is totally normal in a smaller car...especially at speed. THe extra give in the siedwalls would only help this.
OR you need fresh power steering fluid. Refurbishing my system on my 92 (through the past 3 months: pump, lines, boots--not rack) has been a world of difference with regard to side-to-side drifting...
