Was talking with an Indy I tend to see from time to time, and it has come down to him rebuilding my 320,000 motor new valve seals in the head and new piston rings. But the reason I`m posting is it seems the Indy wants to put a size bigger piston in because he`s thinking about the ridge the 320,000 miles made in the walls and thinks boring the cylinders will require it., and on top of that he`s wanting to install forged pistons which will cost a ton of cash. However I`m on the band wagon for doing this but if I`m going to need to buy bigger pistons I want the cylinders to be bored out to their max to equip the biggest piston possible.
Being the piston will be forged I suspect I`ll be able to lean out the fuel/air mix greatly and not have to worry about burning a hole in the pistons,.. yes? no?
While pondering on this I asked would a 2.1 piston fit in a 2.0 if bored to the max. Indy says no but a piston just under the 2.1 would fit and it would have very noticeable in power. He`s bent on getting forged pistons no matter the case and said he thinks there are only 2 sizes bigger piston than oem that is sold for the motor.
This idea isn't going to take effect until 2 to 3 years down the road thought I`d run this by everyone here .. any thoughts?
