Distinctly unpleasant experience. Had to leave out S--t falling in your eyes, head laying in puddles of hydraulic fluid, stripped hose clamps, and ice cold floor. That would have given it all away.
To make maters more interesting, the change over of parts from the old pump went about as bad as you could imagine. First, the metal pipe on the high pressure line to the pump did not want to unscrew and began to strip the corners off the bolt - had to grind away the housing to the very edge of bolts threads on two sides to get it to let go.
Then, the edges of the lip that you use to pull the pulley disintegrated when I tried to use the puller (heaven forbid I should attempt this using the correct tool!) Ended up putting the pump in my vice and driving a tie rod removal fork between the backside of the pulley and the housing to get the damn thing off.
Took me 2 hours to do this 15 minute change over - sheesh!!
I just love this repair! Oh well, 75-100K before I have to go through this agony again.
