hard to replace a c900... Posted by Snowmobile [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Start with a second opinion. nm, Name Left Blank, Sun, 27 Jan 2013 19:44:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
sure the 2.1L wasn't the best and the automatic has its drawbacks... but even so, a well sorted out c900 is something else! We own a 2004 9-5 also, and it is a good car, and definitely the one we take on long trips nowadays as a family... but the c900s are great around town, more fun to drive, and much better winter cars than the 9-5... not to say the 9-5 isn't fun - it is in a touring sense, but there is something special about the c900s that none of the GM-era saabs can match (even if they are very nice compared to other cars)... it is also cheaper to repair a c900 than a 9-5: though the 9-5 breaks infrequently, the parts cost is higher...
a hg is no big deal... significant rust, especially structural, would be a big deal... so it depends a lot on the condition beyond the hg... but the c900 is the iconic Saab, and with Saab defunct and good examples becoming harder to find, they are going up in value (like the value of a deceased artist's work)... pretty soon a dead rust free c900 will be worth more than a 9-5 or NG9-3! But I agree, to have something to get from A to B, a newer used saab is great value and may be more sensible for the original poster if they don't have a great saab indy and/or can not DIY...
