My first c900 was a black '93 non-turbo named 8-ball. My little sister snagged it when I went to college. One day the check engine light came on and the coolant temperature gauge hit the red. She kept driving because she thought she was close enough to home, but it overheated before she could get there. My dad filled the car up with coolant and she kept driving it, but soon it would give a great plume of white smoke at every startup. Just about filled the whole property! Coolant would disappear pretty quick from the reservoir. Turned out that when she over heated it, she had warped the head and coolant was seeping into one of the cylinders. By morning enough would have collected to turn to steam when put through the engine. It still ran okay, though by no means healthy. On startup, it sounded like one cylinder was not working sometimes, but it once the plume cleared, it was usually okay. We ended up having to replace the entire head. Big job, but worth it for that car. She ended up lasting another 5 years or so before my sister fell asleep at the wheel on I-91 in Vermont and flew off a 35ft drop onto boulders and rolled into the trees. When we got 8-ball back on the road, she could have driven home if not for a broken rim and cracked battery. My sister was fine except for a broken nail.
