Hot day ABS light... Posted by Baggsly [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Anti-Lock Light Blues II: The Search for Curly's Gold, Sol Rizzo, Sun, 14 Jul 2013 19:00:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sol, you said you moved the car. Did you move it 50 feet or did you move it 5 miles driving?
Was the ABS light on when you turned the ignition on? If you leave the car on (not yet starting), the brake fluid and ABS light should both be on at beginning and then go out after a few seconds. Is that happening?
Have you tried doing the stomp test again? It's always possible you got a bum bomb. With a new one you should get 8-12 pumps before the light comes on. Do this with car on but not running. Did you get the bomb from GMPartsDirect?
The early 90's cars do seem to have an issue showing up with the brake bomb getting really warm in hot or hot & humid conditions. A cotton or wool sock over the bomb soaked in water does help cool it more rapidly.
Someone (Landjet?) posted about the ABS bomb cooler they made if you often drive in hot conditions. I'm working on something similar for my 1990.
Let us know the answers to the questions.
Mark :-)
