Electrical gremlins Posted by Landjet [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
1992 convertible -- this is a auto to 5 speed conversion, with a simultaneous NA to turbo conversion.
This turned into a big project when I found the cat had melted through most of the wiring above it. I cut, spliced, soldered and insulated about 20 of the wires. Methodically, I replaced one wire at a time using another harness to splice in about 5 inches of identical color coded wiring.
Yes, there were wonky things going on with the tail lights, and other things prior to the discovery of the meltdown. Now, many of those things are cured, and hopefully this last one isn't something I'll have to chase for much longer.
Brake fluid light is illuminated
Parking brake indicator light is illuminated
I have the interior completely out, so I tripped the parking brake to see if would make the light go out. It just slightly dims BOTH the brake fluid light, and the parking brake light simultaneously.
Could this be something simple in the process of changing from an automatic to the 5 speed that wiring needs to be changed? I didn't read anything anywhere about parking brake or brake fluid light issues during the swap.
I tried to track down the parking brake wiring diagram in Bentley and couldn't find it. Nor the low brake fluid light wiring diagram. It's probably in there somewhere, but I can't locate --- any suggestions on where in Bentley to look or other tips on how to track down the gremlin and "extinguish" it.....them.....
Thanks
