When the boost gauge is stuck in the middle, it means that it is seeing atmospheric pressure. Look for a vacuum hose that has fallen off the vacuum nipple on the side of the intake manifold.
There are a number of issues that could lead to the high idle, various vacuum leaks being a main cause.
If you don't know how old they are, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace all of the vacuum lines and the rubber bushings that hold the vacuum nipples into the intake manifold and valve cover.
Let us know if popping the vacuum hose back on helps with the idle issue.
How is the drivability otherwise?
