Here are a few thoughts ....
With it being consistent and occurring in the same RPM range in all gears and out of gear, I'd suspect that it might be one of a number of different things:
- If it's a sort of a tenor growl(Frequency is a multiple of engine RPM), maybe alternator bushings, bad water pump bearing, or really worn A/C idler bearing.
- If it's sort of a basso growl (frequency is the same as engine RPM), I'd suspect that it's unbalanced flywheel, bad upper bearing in the transmission's primary chaincase, or harmonic balancer.
Does it occur with the clutch pedal pressed all the way down?
Can you feel it through the floor or steering wheel?
Motor mounts, of course, are always suspect if they're more than 5 years old :-)
