Which I've done on all the 900s I've owned. Buy a stack of gaskets for the oil filter/cooler hose module. Next time, you just remove the oil block (careful with sender wire) and then put your socket on the 16/17 bolt hex head. eEuro has those gaskets for a couple bucks each max. With oil housing out, you can extract bolt far enough to pull the ALT straight up & out.
