Our '91 Turbo vert is getting up in miles (155k) and almost perfect after a couple years slowly fixing the usual stuff along with a new top. We absolutely love it and dread the eventual auto box implosion so we drive it sparingly and don't push it when we do. The local Jeep dealer recommended keeping our Cherokee in 3rd around town and only shifting to 4th on the highway. We did this religiously since new and never a problem up to 256k when we sold it. It definitely reduces the number of up/downshifts around town albeit at the expense of a bit of fuel and higher engine revs. Question is would the same strategy (keeping it in 2 around town) help preserve the Saab or speed it's demise? Cmyles?
