Finally! The 86 notch runs, now its hard to shift.... Posted by Ilovemountains [Email] (#1318) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ilovemountains) on Fri, 7 Feb 2014 06:11:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 86 notch is finally alive! I still can’t believe that all this time I’ve been throwing new parts at it that I had the wrong MAF installed, guess It’s like measure 3 times cut once, I should have read the Bentley 3 times.. Anyway now she has: A fresh head gasket and all accompanying gaskets for the entire top end, complete new exhaust including cat and 02 sensor, complete clutch hydraulic system with anew friction disk and throw out bearking, new h20 pump, filters, vacuum lines, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, low temp thermostat, belts, brakes and calipers etc etc.
The issue I have now is when I had the head off the car my cheap H Freight small jack didn’t hold pressure and the engine / trans dropped down while the motor mount was not installed since the head was out being pressure tested and cleaned. The shifter shaft must be bent as before I did all this work it shifted perfectly, now its very hard to shift and you have to feel for the gears and slide them in. Any ideas as to how to fix this one? I was going to put a block of wood under the shifter rod and slowly put pressure up on it to see if its just slightly bent down but before I do I thought Id see if anyone else has ever had this issue. Thanks again for all the help with this project, sadly when its all back together its going to be sold, Im looking for a clean, low mile 4 door 5 speed car since Im a daddy to be!
